The Ben Franklin Academy chapter of NJHS is open to 7th and 8th grade students based on individual scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Membership is both an honor and a commitment as through NJHS students will maintain and extend these qualities.
Joining NJHS:
Applications for NJHS are now being accepted for the 2021/2022 school year.
NJHS applications and forms will be accepted through October 1, 2021. Paperwork will NOT be accepted after that date.
Paperwork can downloaded from the NJHS Website (this website), or picked up in Mrs. Murphy's classroom.
Returning 8th graders only need to turn in the NJHS Policy form
New 7th grade applicants need to turn in both the application and the policy form.

Total of 10 hours per school year.

Officers
Each school year a President and Vice President are elected from among the returning 8th grade members.

Dues
Annual dues of $25 for students that have a t-shirt and $35 for students who need to order a t-shirt. Fees are collected in the Fall and are non-refundable if a student is unable to participate in NJHS due to not meeting requirements. Dues are used for NJHS tshirts which are worn during group community service efforts, NJHS Chapter affiliation fee, supplies for service projects, certificates, etc.

The Faculty Council reviews the academics of each member each trimester to verify members are maintaining the academic standard (3.0 and above). If a member falls below the standard they are notified and given 1 term to improve. If the member continues to fall below the academic standard the Faculty Council may enact disciplinary measures, including removal from NJHS. Members may also be disciplined or removed for failure to maintain the standards of leadership, character, and service.
